Shaking and Limping

October 13, 2010

No idea what is up, but I am sure that I have seen Isa limping.  Today, I noticed the shaking. She plays fine, and acts okay, and told me forcibly to quit asking if she hurts. My best guess is that the vincristine (VCR) is affecting her nervous system.

Besides that her cough has been horrific.  So bad in fact that she’s been coughing until she pukes. Those vicious cycle coughs.

She has also had a tummy ache around her navel for the past week or so.  Next Monday I will run all this past the docs.  It just seems so odd that it is coming up now.

Thanks for reading.

Elke’s had that same tummy ache, sometimes severe, right around her navel. At clinic on Monday the onc thought it was constipation. We give her Miralax month round, but I guess we haven’t been giving her enough. If you’ve noticed Isa having more neuropathy in general, it could also be affecting her GI tract more severely.

Sorry to hear about the cough. We’ve been there, and I know how frustrating and relentless it can be. And how seemingly disinterested the oncs can be after they confirm that the lungs are clear…. Have her IgG levels been checked? Don’t know how you feel about IVIgG infusions (yet another blood product), but Elke gets them monthly, and they seem to keep her healthier. At least I hope they will. Okay, fingers crossed.

When is Isa off treatment? Elke’s OT date is 2/2/11. Groundhog day. Not sure I how I feel about that.

The tummyache must be treatment related. Up until today her stomach was bloated too. Today we are officially off treatment and getting blood products. Checking blood in two weeks. Hgb at 5.6. Down from 10.6. The only change was an increase in 6 MP.

Holy crap! 5.6! Man she must have been feeling bad. It’s amazing how kids can walk around with hgb like that when you or I would be literally unable to stand! Sorry her counts are so low. Hope she’s feeling okay aside from the really low hgb.
