Vincristine with a Doxo Twist

November 17, 2009

For your own sanity question the doctors.

Today, Isa’s doxorubicin dosage was .5 higher than last week. When I read the number, I made them recalculate the dosage.  And they did. Even though it stresses them out, the nurses would rather do that than piss off a parent.  Each time I say something about dosages they get antsy and nervous.  Last week she recieved 15 mg of Doxo and this week 15.5. BUT after they calculated it again, the actual dose she should have received was 15.3, so I went with the 15.5 dosage.

While we waited Isa ate 3 boxes of Cheerios with milk. I have no idea where her appetite came from, but didn’t question it.

Good for her. Usually there’s a change of food appetite afterchemotherapy. But, to hear she ate 3 Cherios with milk is a very good news. But, more than that, you have made them recalculate the dosage. It never happen in my country. Thank you for a great advice.

Good for you for staying on top of the dosages. Great advice for others too. You’re a great mom.
