No Blood, Day 23, DI

July 24, 2009

What could have been a very long day, turned out to only take 2 hours and 14 minutes. (Ya gotta love the parking receipt.)

Our nine o’clock appointment had us up and out early. Once we arrived to Hem/Onc, the place was packed. People everywhere. We waited for about 30 minutes before the nurse, not the tech, called us to come on back. She sneaked us into a room, accessed Isa’s port, drew blood, then sent us back to the waiting room. That way we could get in and out.

While we waited Isa felt quite hot, and started screaming (yes, in the waiting room) that her hips hurt. I asked for some tylenol. But before anyone could bring it out, the nurse came to the waiting room to tell us that her counts were okay, that she didn’t need blood. *WOOT*

So, we went back to de-access her port and she got some tylenol.

Counts.

Maybe her monocytes at 5 caused her counts to go up a little bit this week.  I am grateful that her body is making enough healthy blood, so she does not need a blood transfusion.
